
Jokanovic; Kosty Earn Big West Weekly Awards

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine men's volleyball players Cameron Kosty and Andrej Jokanovic earned Big West weekly honors after a pair of wins over No. 18 CSUN last week.
Kosty earns his second Big West Setter of the Week recognition, while Jokanovic brought home both Defensive and Freshman of the Week. It is the outside hitter's first defensive recognition and seventh Freshman accolade.
Kosty averaged 11.57 set assists in two wins against the Matadors, guiding the Anteaters to a .389 (99-20-203) hitting percentage over the series. The redshirt freshman tallied 49 set assists in the first match and 32 in the second, while hitting .500 with six kills, three blocks, two digs and an ace for the week. On the season, Kosty averages 8.55 set assists per set.
Jokanovic was dominant once again, averaging 4.71 kills, 5.71 points, 2.71 digs, 0.71 blocks and 0.57 aces. The outside hitter started the week, putting away a match-high 23 kills, which tied his career-high and set a new career-high in digs with 13, his third career double-double. He also added four total blocks (1 solo) and an ace at the Bren Center then in the second meeting at Northridge, he shared the team lead with 10 kills, six digs and three aces. Joaknovic ranks second in The Big West and 16th nationally in points (4.32), while also standing sixth in hitting percentage (.317), third in kills (3.62) and fourth in aces (0.43) among league players.
This week, No. 5 UC Irvine will take on Black & Blue rival and third-ranked Long Beach State in the final regular season series. The teams will meet in Long Beach on Friday (Apr. 17) at 7:00 p.m. before closing out the regular season at the Bren Events Center Saturday (Apr. 18) at 6:00 p.m.
