IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball fell in the series finale 9-2 Sunday afternoon in Anteater Ballpark to CSUN

• Finnegan Wall got the start and made his way through three innings scoreless getting some help from a caught stealing in the second and a double play ball in the third
• Meanwhile, UCI got the offense rolling with a pair of two-out singles by Efren Ortega and Frankie Carney to drive in runs and lead 2-0
• CSUN battled back with single runs in the fourth on an RBI triple and the sixth from a groundball to tie it up, 2-2
  • Wall made a great play to glove-flip to home plate to get a runner and keep a one-run lead at the time in the fourth following the triple
• The game went into the eighth inning still tied at 2-2 before the Matadors stepped up to break the tie
  • Four straight free passes from Ryder Brooks and Hunter Manning allowed the go-ahead run for a 3-2 Matador advantage
  • CSUN made the 'Eaters pay pouring it on with four hits all scoring runs to complete a seven-run inning and lead 9-2

• The Anteaters had eight hits in the game with multi-hit games from their run-producers including a three-hit day by Ortega
• Pitching started with Finnegan Wall allowing one run over 4.2 innings, and he struck out three along with the most effective relief hand Peyton Rodgers retiring all six hitters he faced in the middle innings.

The loss drops UCI to 9-7 on the season and 1-2 in Big West play. Coming up is a trip to No. 1 UCLA Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. followed by a road trip to Cal State Fullerton for the weekend series, March 13-15
