IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball battled back against No. 17 Oregon State Saturday in Anteater Ballpark, but could not find the final play falling by a score of 5-3
- Oregon State once again jumped out to a first-inning lead getting a clutch two-out double to plate two and lead, 2-0
- UCI got a two-out hit of its own in the second inning as Lucas Schermer went the other way to cut it to 2-1
- The Beavers added a pair in the sixth manufacturing runs against the UCI bullpen to go up, 4-1, and a solo home run in the seventh made it 5-1
- Landon Gaz showed off the power with a towered home run to left-center to cut the deficit to 5-3 in the seventh
- UCI put itself in prime position to drew even loading the bases with two walks and a bunt single and nobody out
- OSU's closer turned UCI away getting an infield fly and two strikeouts to stop the 'Eaters from getting any across and preserve the two-run lead

- The offense had just four hits today, but two of them were run-scoring hits with Schermer's RBI single and Gaz's home run, his second of the season to lead the team
- Ricky Ojeda settled in on the mound after a rough first inning to strikeout six over four innings, but still took the loss
- Danny Suarez was spotless in bullpen work upping his shutout streak to 10.1 innings following 2.2 scoreless frames and two strikeouts
