
UC Irvine Ties for 14th at Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. – The UC Irvine men's golf team finished in a tie for 14th at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate Wednesday at the Classic Club.
The Anteaters and Hawai'i both finished the three-day tournament with a 5-count-4 total of 882. No. 46 Colorado took home the team title at 34-under 830, while Maryland's Emil Riegger was the individual champion at 10-under 206 (70-69-67).
Senior Rei Harashima was UCI's top finisher for the fifth time in six tournaments this season. Harashima saved his best round for last, coming in at even par to move up 16 spots in the standings. He had a strong finish to the day with two birdies, and an eagle on the par-5, 568-yard fourth, over his final nine holes. Harashima tied for 58th with a 54-hole score of 220 (73-75-72).
Junior Jason Tang was one stroke back in a tie for 63rd at 5-over 221 (74-70-77). Sophomore Jack Yu matched his first round total to climb eight spots into a tie for 68th (73-76-73--222), while sophomore Owen Davis-Piger tied for 79th with a 223 (69-77-77). Davis-Piger led the 'Eaters with 13 birdies in the tournament. Sophomore Tommy Lin rounded out the group in a tie for 98th (230).
UC Irvine will be back in action, March 9-10, at the Lamkin Invitational in Chula Vista, California.
