UC Irvine Takes on WCC Opponents Portland, Pacific at Home

IRVINE, Calif. — UC Irvine women's tennis (2-4, 0-2) will return to Irvine for a two-match homestand against West Coast Conference schools Portland (Feb. 20) and Pacific (Feb. 21). The two matches at home will be the first time the Anteaters take the court in Irvine since Jan. 18.

Notes

  • UC Irvine enters play against Portland after a 2-2 road trip where the Anteaters picked up wins against Santa Clara and Chapman, respectively.

  • UCI will play a 22-match slate in 2026, with 14 matches being in Irvine

  • The Anteaters are led by Amanda Perez, who is 2-0 in her last two singles matches, including a thriller won against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday where the senior won a third set 10-point-tiebreaker 13-11 after being down as much as 6-1

Scouting Portland

UCI hosts Portland (1-3) for a match on Friday. The Pilots have had a modest start to their 2026 dual match season, picking up a win at Stonehill College on Jan. 23, but going winless since against Brown, Washington and Oregon, respectively. 

Portland continues the early 2026 dual match season after a 9-10 season overall in 2025, going 4-4 in WCC play. The Pilots are led by Maria Galatescu, who is 19-16 in singles overall since the beginning of the 2024-25 season and Alaia Arbaizar Martinez who is 27-24 in the same stretch.

Scouting Pacific

Pacific (0-6) will visit Orange County seeking its first victory of the 2026 dual match season. The Tigers will first visit Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 20) before taking on the Anteaters in Irvine on Sunday.

Pacific went 6-15 overall in 2025's dual match season, including a 1-7 WCC record where the Tigers' sole win came against Loyola Marymount on the final day of the regular season.
