SAN DIEGO, Calif. – UC Irvine had a season's best second place finish at the San Diego State Classic held at the Heights Golf Club.
The Anteaters shot a three-round total of 872 (284-294-294), placing behind Cal State Fullerton at 852 (275-294-283). The Titans' Katharina Zeilinger earned medalist honors with a nine-under 207.
The team was second best among the tournament field with scoring on Par 5s at a 4.78 clip.
Graduate student
Jenny Chang had a career-best fourth place finish, recording a two-day total of 213 (68-71-74). She was second on Par 5s (4.40) and 8
th in Par 4 scoring (4.04). Chang and
Katelyn Kong each had a team-best nine birdies.
Kong moved up to fifth with a score of two-under 214 (70-73-71). The sophomore was tied for third among tournament players in par 4 scoring (3.96).
Sophomore
Alona Avery was tied for 11
th with a 54-hole score of 217 (70-77-70). Senior
Kiana Briggs was tied for 43
rd place at 229 (76-73-80) and freshman
Chelsie Chin was tied for 58
th at 237 (79-79-79).
Up next, UCI will travel to the Bruin Wave Invitational Feb. 23-24 at the Valencia Country Club.
