No. 6 UC Irvine Sweeps Kentucky State

 SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Irvine hit .580 in a sweep Kentucky State, 3-0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-5) on the second day of the Asics Invitational at Robertson Gym.

The Anteaters put away 32 kills in 50 attempts with just three errors. UCI also had 13 aces in the win.

Outside hitters Andon Kiriakou and Andrej Jokanovic led all players with seven kills and were both errorless on the night. Jokanovic hit .700 (7-0-10) with four digs, two block assists and two aces, while Kiriakou hit .636 (7-0-11) with four digs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Junior Trevor Clark was unstoppable in the middle hitting .857 on six kills in seven attempts. He had a season high six block assists to lead all players
>Pin William D'Arcy had a season-high six kills, five digs and four block assists
>Aidan Schulten guided the offense with a career-high 18 set assists, six digs and four aces
>Andreas Brinck made his collegiate career with six digs and three set assists
>UCI out-blocked the Thorobreds, 8-0

FIRST SET
>UCI opened with a 10-0 run, that started with a pair of Trevor Clark kills and included three Aidan Schulten aces
>Andrej Jokanovic had back-to-back kills to get UCI to set point, 24-8
>After an Anteater service error, William D'Arcy had a kill for the win, 25-9

SECOND SET
>The set started with an ace by Micah Goss followed by kills from Jokanovic and Clark
>A pair of aces by Jokanovic extended UCI's lead to 10-2
>UCI scored the final three points in the 25-7 victory

THIRD SET
>The Anteaters opened with the first three points
>D'Arcy tapped it over for a kill, 6-1
>Behind the tough serving of D'Arcy UCI extended the margin to Schulten had a block and a kill, 11-3
>The Anteaters would go on to win 25-5
