SEATTLE, Wash. – UC Irvine women's indoor track & field had two 'Eaters set a school record in Saturday's UW Invitational at Dempsey Indoor.

Newcomer
Emma Hadley made her presence known in her first meet as an Anteater, shattering the school record in the mile with a time of 4:42.71. She topped the mark of 4:52.78 set by Kim Ramirez back in 2005. Hadley's previous best was 5:01.04 over two years at the University of Colorado. She finished eighth overall at the meet.

Junior
Kaia Schmidt would not be denied as well, finishing with a time of 4:51.70 to also top the school record. Schmidt beat her personal best by just over a second as she now stands second all-time behind Hadley. She placed 22nd in the meet.

Of the remaining eight runners on Saturday, five set their first mile times and a sixth also topped a personal best in
Nicole Contreras (5:02.11) who finished third among Anteaters and 88th in the meet. She eclipsed her best by 7.55 seconds. Closely behind was sophomore
Anna Soares, who was 0.17 seconds behind Contreras.

UC Irvine will continue its indoor season next weekend at the Wolf Pack Classic in Reno, Nevada, Feb. 6-7.
