ERIE, Colo. – The UC Irvine men's golf team concluded the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational in 15th place Tuesday at Colorado National Golf Club.

The Anteaters combined for a 5-count-4 total of 865 (287-288-290), finishing one stroke back of Eastern Washington and Denver, who tied for 13th.

It was a tight race at the top of the leaderboard with Arkansas State (822) taking home the team title. Tournament host Colorado came in second with an 823. A-State's Thomas Schmidt increased his lead on the final day of action as he set a tournament record at 22-under to claim individual medalist honors.

Sophomore
Jack Yu was UCI's top finisher in a tie for 21st. Yu carded an even-par 72 in Tuesday's third round to close out the tournament at 6-under 210 (69-69-72).

Rei Harashima dropped into a tie for 59th with a three-round total of 216 (68-72-76).

Sophomore
Owen Davis-Piger had UC Irvine's best round of the day. After shooting par on his first hole, Davis-Piger recorded four-straight birdies. He then had three bogeys over the final 13 to come in at 1-under. Davis-Piger moved up nine spots into a tie for 67th with a 54-hole score of 219 (72-76-71).

Tommy Lin (226) and junior
Jason Tang (232) rounded out the 'Eater lineup. Tang had his best round of the tournament with an even-par 72.

UC Irvine will be back in action next week at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational, Oct. 9-11.
