CORVALLIS, Ore. – UC Irvine sophomore
Katelyn Kong is in a tie for fifth place to lead the Anteaters at the Molly Collegiate Invitational at the Trysting Tree Golf Club Monday.
Kong recorded three birdies on the first round and two birdies on the second round to finish the first day with a score of one-over par, 145 (73-72).
As a team, UCI is in fourth place with a two-round total of 591 (296-295).
Graduate student
Jenny Chang is tied for 11
th with a score of 147 (72-75), while sophomore
Alona Avery is tied for 16
th after shooting a pair of 74s (148). Avery is one of four players to record an eagle, carding a two on the 365-yard Par 4 second hole during the first round.
Sophomore
Katherine Gerbing (77-74) and freshman
Chelsie Chin (74-77), who is playing as an individual, are tied for 27

th position following a 36-hole score of 159 (81-78).
Host Oregon State leads the tournament field with a score of eight-over par 584 (290-294). Oregon's Darae Chung is the top individual with a score of 139 (69-70).
The tournament ends tomorrow with 18 holes beginning at 8:30 a.m.
