WOLCOTT, Colo -- UC Irvine ended the Golfweek Red Sky Classic held at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Course in a tie for seventh place.
The Anteaters had their best round of the tournament Wednesday with a score of 290, ending in a tie for seventh at 878 (291-297-290), matching Northern Arizona and Eastern Michigan. USC won the tournament with a record 45-under par 819 (276-276-267).
Graduate student
Jenny Chang led the Anteaters with a score of 217 (73-69-75) which was tied for 25
th overall. Chang's second round of 69 was a career-best and the low round of the season so far. She ended with a team-best 10 birdies over 54 holes.
Sophomores
Katelyn Kong (72-74-72) and
Alona Avery (71-76-71) were tied for 28
th, carding a 218. Avery was second among the tournament field with 41 pars. Kong and Chang followed with 35 each. Â
Sophomore
Katherine Gerbing shot an even-par 72 on the final round and was tied for 52
nd with a score of 225 (75-78-72). Sophomore
HaYoung Lee was tied for 89
th with a total of 236 (79-80-77).
In a quick turnaround, the Anteaters will head to the Molly Collegiate Invitational Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 29-30). to compete at the Trysting Tree Golf Course in Corvallis, Ore.
