IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball managed just three hits in a 4-2 loss Friday night in Anteater Ballpark to Cal State Fullerton dropping the weekend series.
- The 'Eaters were stifled by CSF pitching and lefty Jayden Harper allowing one hit in six innings and no hits for the first 5.2 innings
- Anteater starter Trevor Hansen was quality on his end allowing two runs over six innings while striking out six to keep the 'Eaters in the game
- The visiting Titans scratched across single runs in four different innings bringing a leadoff double around in the third and getting a pair of two-out hits in the fourth to score another to lead 2-0
- The game was 3-0 heading into the eighth before a jolt of life to lead the frame off on a monstrous home run to left field by Will Bermudez to make it 3-1
- The Titans got a key insurance run in the ninth before Blake Penso led off the ninth with a home run of his own to close it back up to 4-2, but nothing else UCI on the night
- Anthony Martinez had the third hit for UCI on a night that his father and grandfather were honored pregame saluting them as military members on Salute to Heroes Night.
- The Anteaters now sit at 38-13 on the season and at 23-6 in conference play are now one game ahead of Cal Poly needing a win to seal the outright regular season title
The sides are at it one last time in the regular season Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Ryder Brooks will be on the hill for the 'Eaters opposed by someone to be determined for the Titans.
UCI will honor its seniors prior to the game with a ceremony starting at 12:30 p.m. for the final home game in Anteater Ballpark in 2025
