IRVINE, Calif. – No. 4 UC Irvine was clicking on all facets of the game in a 3-0 sweep of No. 9 CSUN (25-14, 25-16, 25-18) on senior night at the Bren Events Center Thursday.

The Anteaters, who improved to 19-6 overall and 5-4 in the Big West, hit .444 (39-7-72), fired 12 aces and out-blocked the Matadors 6.5-3.0.

Senior Hilir Henno led all players with 20 kills and five aces. He is 10 shy of tying the NCAA all-time record of 255 held by UCSB's Evan Patek (2004-07).

Senior Nolan Flexen led the team with seven digs to go with three kills and two block assists.

Setter Joe Karlous had 31 set assists, six digs and two block assists. It is the eight time the grad student has guided UCI to a .400 hitting percentage or better.

Maxim Grigoriev, who will graduate in three years, had three aces, two blocks and two kills.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
>Junior William D'Arcy continued to be hot offensively, hitting .500 with nine kills, five digs and an ace

FIRST SET
>Maxim Grigoriev started the Anteaters off  to a 4-0 lead with tough serving, firing two aces and helping kills by Hilir Henno and William D'Arcy
>Consecutive kills by Henno, D'Arcy, and Micah Goss was followed by an ace from Henno to extend the lead to 10-3
>A 3-1 run by the Matadors capped by a block closed the gap to 11-15
>The Anteaters answered with three in a row on a pair of kills from Henno and a block by Henno and Goss, 18-11
>Back-to-back aces from Henno moved the lead to 21-12
>UCI would score the final three points on a kill from D'Arcy, a Matador attack error and a kill by Flexen, 25-14

SECOND SET
>A 5-1 UCI run, including a kill by D'Arcy, two CSUN errors and aces by Goss and D'Arcy moved the Anteaters out to a 9-6 lead
>A Matador service error, a block by Goss and Henno and a kill by D'Arcy extended the lead to 13-8
>Back-to-back blocks and an ace by Goss forced a CSUN timeout, 18-11
>A kill by Karlous on second contact made it 20-13
>A block straight down by Goss and Karlous followed kills by D'Arcy and Henno, 24-16
>A UCI service error was followed by one from the Matadors, 25-16

THIRD SET
>An ace by Henno was sandwiched between two Henno kills, 6-3
>Henno's magic touch would find the open court twice, 13-8
>Goss would pound a kill in the middle before Henno had another ace down the line, 15-10
>A Matador service error that flew to Crawford Hall was followed by an ace by Grigoriev, 21-17
>Two Matador attack errors wide gave UCI the set 25-18 and match 3-0

NOTES
>Henno has recorded 20 or more kills four times this season and five or more aces three times
