IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball began its five-game homestand with a 15-5 loss to LMU Tuesday night in Anteater Ballpark.
  • The only matchup between the programs playing their 93rd meeting all-time started off Loyola Marymount's way with three runs in the second inning helped by three hits including two infield singles
  • The Lions added two in the third inning including a solo home run for a 5-0 lead early
  • UC Irvine's offense woke up quickly with the first four hitters in the third getting a hit and cutting into the lead
    • Frankie Carney extended his hit streak to 15 games to leadoff the inning, and Colin Yeaman followed right behind to put his hit streak to 20 games
    • Anthony Martinez drove each of them in with a double to draw within three, and Jacob McCombs added a double to make it a 5-3 game
    • Rowan Felsch hammered a double off the right field wall to make it a 5-4 ballgame, and then Will Bermudez's sacrifice fly completed the five-run inning and tie it, 5-5
  • LMU grabbed the lead back with a two-run home run in the fifth inning to make it 7-5 and never look back

    • Foster bookended his second inning of work with his first two Anteater strikeouts
