'Eaters Net Personal Bests at Bryan Clay Multis

AZUSA, Calif. - Seniors Jolie Robinson and Jazzmine Davis both set personal bests that rank among the top-five in program history in the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis Friday at Cougar Stadium.
 
Robinson, the two-time defending Big West heptathlon champion, totaled 5,489 points to rank second among UCI's all-time leaders. She finished seventh in Group A.
 
Davis was first out of 16 in Group B with 5,358 points to climb four spots to No. 5 in school history.
 
Davis started the second day of the heptathlon with three impressive marks in the long jump including a lifetime-best 5.87 meters (19-3.25) on her final attempt. Davis tied for first in the competition and moved up one spot into a tie for ninth in program history. The Sherman Oaks native was also fourth in the javelin (34.48/113-1) and seventh in the 800m (2:24.42).
 
Robinson had a big leap on her third attempt in the long jump, hitting a wind-aided 5.93 meters (19-5.5) to come in sixth. The Mission Viejo native also placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 37.00m (121-4) before closing out the meet in the 800m where she clocked a lifetime-best 2:23.10.
 

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Anteaters were also in action at the Titans' Friday Night Lights meet in Fullerton on Friday.
 
Lauren Scarpelli cleared a personal-record 3.40 meters (11-1.75) in the pole vault to tie for 10th in program history.
 
Pinkie Schnayer won the shot put with a toss of 14.26 meters (46-9.5). It was her third individual victory of the season. Nyla Baker was also third at 13.81m (45-3.75), while Leilah Lauifi notched a lifetime-best 13.24m (43-5.25) to place fourth overall.
 
Baker was the Anteaters top performer in the discus where she claimed runner-up honors (45.55m/149-5).
 
DeAna Davis took fifth overall, but was the top collegiate finisher in the hammer throw at 55.18m (181-0). Kayla Smith added a personal-best 44.02m (144-5).
 
On the track, Sarah Ajayi came in third in the 100m hurdles (14.17) and 400m hurdles (63.69).
 
UC Irvine has a busy week ahead with the Bryan Clay Invitational (April 16-18), Mt. SAC Relays (April 17-19), Pacific Coast Intercollegiate (April 17) and Beach Invitational (April 18-19).
