IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team gets a sneak peek at the site of the 2025 MPSF Championships this weekend when it heads to The Podium in Spokane, Washington, for the Riverfront Invitational, Feb. 6-8. The pentathlon will be contested on Thursday starting at 12:30 p.m. Friday's action also gets underway at 12:30 p.m., while the Anteaters will be ready for a 10 a.m. start on Saturday.
MULTIS DEPTH
Jolie Robinson,
Jazzmine Davis and
Zharia Taylor are scheduled to compete in their first pentathlon of the season on Thursday. Robinson enters the meet ranked third among UC Irvine's all-time leaders with a personal-record 3,660 points, which she established in a third-place finish at the 2024 MPSF Championships. Davis also set a lifetime-best of 3,470 points at last year's Riverfront Invitational to rank fourth in program history. Both Robinson (2022) and Davis (2023) came to UCI as California Community College Athletic Association State Champions in the heptathlon. This year, the Anteaters add the 2024 3C2A state runner-up in Taylor (Cerritos College).
THE BIG THREE
Reyna Johnson,
Jolie Robinson and
Kailah McKenzie hold the top three long jump marks in program history. Johnson leads the trio with a school-record 5.97 meters (19-7), which she set in her long jump victory at the 2024 MPSF Championships. McKenzie and Robinson are right on her heels as they finished with identical PRs of 5.93m (19-5.5) at the Nevada Invitational two weeks ago. They are tied for second among UCI's all-time top-10.
YEAR TWO
Kailah McKenzie and
Halle Sutherland have picked up right where they left off after successful freshmen campaigns in 2024. The two sophomores have set personal records in every event they have competed in this season. Sutherland set a lifetime-best of 7.53 in the 60m at the Nevada Invitational and 24.40 in the 200m at the Silver & Blue Invitational. Both her times rank second in program history. McKenzie added PRs of 5.93m in the long jump (2nd), 1.73m in the high jump (3rd) and 8.66 seconds in the 60m hurdles (6th).
RECORD BREAKERS
The Anteaters broke the 4x400 indoor school record in their first meet of the 2025 season.

Amelia Trautman clocked in at 3:47.41 to win the event at the Silver & Blue Invitational. Their time topped UCI's previous standard of 3:48.68 that was set in 2020.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Several Anteaters made a statement in their indoor season debuts at the Nevada Invitational, Jan. 24-25.
Anna Vogtmann wasted no time in moving up the record books as she ran the second-fastest mile in program history at 4:57.84.
Malia Gay also competed in the 600m, crossing the finish line in a lifetime-best 1:34.15 to rank third in school history.
Esmeray Demirbas, a transfer from Orange Coast College, clocked a 400m time of 56.47 to sit at No. 4 among UCI's all-time leaders after her first meet. In addition,
Ihe Okoh competed in her first collegiate 400m, landing at No. 8 in the record books with a time of 57.11.
MPSF ACCLAIM
Reyna Johnson was named the MPSF Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 15. Johnson was recognized for her performance at the season-opening Silver & Blue Invitational. She started the meet in the long jump where she was sixth with a leap of 5.89 meters (19-4). Her distance was three inches shy of her school record. Johnson also competed in the 60m hurdles where she finished fourth. In the prelims, the Sacramento native clocked a personal-record 8.54, which ranks third in program history. This was Johnson's second career MPSF weekly award.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
UC Irvine's throws squad is out to a strong start.
Nyla Baker won the shot put at the Silver & Blue Invitational before establishing a personal-record 14.36m (47-1.5) in a third-place finish at the Nevada Invitational.
Nadia Combs-Mahone added a lifetime-best 14.14m (46-4.75) at the latter meet. Baker and Combs-Mahone rank fourth and fifth, respectively in program history.
Pinkie Schnayer, the 2024 CIF high school state champion in the shot put, also cracked UCI's top-10 with a toss of 13.28m (43-7), while
DeAna Davis improved on her No. 7 mark in the weight throw with a PR 15.71m (51-6.5) at the Silver & Blue Invitational.
