UC Irvine Women's Tennis Closes Fall Season with Success at Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

| By:

IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's tennis team finished its fall season and closed out play at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 9.

UCI enjoyed another successful day, claiming nine victories on the day and winning both doubles matches it played in.

Ani Vanetsyan and Lindsay Kim starred in the singles format for the Anteaters on Sunday, going a combined 5-0 on the last day of the invitational. Kim had a standout victory, coming back from a set down to win a first-to-10 tiebreaker against CSUF's Kunza to win her second singles match of the day. Vanetsyan added a win as Ani Parandian's doubles partner, winning the match 6-2.

Overall, during the two-day tournament the Anteaters collected 14 wins, with 12 coming by way of singles matches.

Kim led the way for UCI over the weekend at the invitational. The sophomore won all singles she played in and went 4-0 overall for the Anteaters. Sayuri Parandian went undefeated over the weekend in singles as well, winning both matches she played. The freshman also added a doubles victory as Vanetsyan's partner on Sunday.

The tournament marks the end of UC Irvine's fall season. The Anteaters resume play in January 2026.

FROM ASSISTANT COACH HERMONT LEGASPI

"The Pomona-Pitzer tournament this past weekend was a true test for the latter half of our group to finish their fall season on a high note. I'm super proud with how all of the 'Eaters competed in both their singles and doubles matches and developed their match toughness despite the hot and dry conditions! They were executing the plays and showcasing an aggressive player mindset that Coach Liz and I kept on reminding them to cultivate in practice. One player that stood out to me the most was Lindsay Kim's undefeated singles record for the weekend as she was able to keep herself composed and believe in her game. The amount of matches played within the span of two days and in harsher conditions is never easy, but it goes to show that the level of persistence and belief in each players' abilities will become important to carry on further towards the spring season slate."

FROM LINDSAY KIM

"I'm super proud of the Pomona group, I think we showed up for each other in every match and everyone put in amazing effort. I'm happy with the way I played because I felt physically fit throughout all four singles matches and found ways to win even if I wasn't playing my best tennis. [It was a] great way to end the fall and so excited to see what we can do in the spring!"
