IRVINE, Calif – The UC Irvine women's tennis team opened play at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, Calif. on Saturday.
The round robin tournament will pit each participating program against one another at least once throughout the weekend. UC Irvine took home five wins on the tournament's opening day, all singles victories.
Sayuri Parandian, Ani Vanetsyan, Mackenzie Lukin and Lindsay Kim all won singles matches, with Lukin's victory coming by way of a 10-7 tiebreaking final game.
Kim starred for UCI on the tournament's initial day, winning two matches for the Anteaters against players from Pomona-Pitzer and UCSD,
UCI dropped both doubles matches it played on Saturday.Â
The Anteaters will finish the two-day tournament with matches on Sunday, Nov. 9.
