SAN DIEGO – The UC Irvine women's tennis team had a strong finish to the ITA Southwest Regional Championships, winning four singles and two doubles matches Saturday in San Diego.
 
In singles play, Carolyna Fowler took down Long Beach State's Johanna Hiesmair in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4.
 
Yen Nhi Huynh, Maily Huynh, and Amanda Perez all bounced back from a first-set loss to win in three. After dropping the opener, M. Huynh blanked Peyton Duckett of Grand Canyon and went on to close out the 4-6, 6-0, 10-7 victory. Y. Huynh upended LBSU's Diana De Simone, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7, while Perez topped Cal Poly's Aspen Chung, 2-6, 6-4, 11-9.
 
In doubles, Quin Brady and Amanda Perez earned a 6-4 win over UC Riverside's Kei Kato/Ramey Yu. Maily Huynh and Yen Nhi Huynh also defeated Olivia Mlouk/Aspen Chung of Cal Poly, 7-5.
 
Over in La Jolla, the 'Eaters went 4-0 in singles to close out action at the Triton Invitational. Kara Chen made quick work of CSUN's Annette Robertson, 6-4, 6-0. Bella Pitchford added a straight-set triumph over Kamya Nair of UC San Diego, 6-4, 6-2. Mackenzie Lukin outlasted the Matadors' Tallia Harper, 5-7, 6-1, 14-12, while Sayuri Parandian also won a super tiebreak over Allison Lian (UCSD), 3-6, 7-5, 10-8.
 
Chen/Parandian started the day with a 6-3 victory over Harper/Robertson (CSUN).
 
The Anteaters return to Irvine where they will make their home debut, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, when they host the UCI Fall Invitational.
