UC Irvine Wraps up Action in Reno

RENO, Nev. – The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team wrapped up action at the Nevada Invitational/Multis Saturday at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
 
Senior Anna Vogtmann claimed runner-up honors in Section 1 of the mile. Her altitude-adjusted time of 4:57.84 was a personal best and moved her up to No. 2 in program history.
 
Senior Malia Gay was fourth in the 600m with a personal-record 1:34.15, which ranks third among the Anteaters' career leaders. Sophomore Kaitlene Ofilan also crossed the finish line in 1:39.17.
 
In the 400m, junior Esmeray Demirbas and freshman Ihe Okoh both cracked UCI's all-time top-10. Demirbas took third in 56.36 seconds (No. 4), while Okoh was sixth at 57.00 (No. 8).
 
Sophomore Halle Sutherland continued to lead the 'Eaters in the 60m dash. She shaved .02 seconds off her PR that she established two weeks ago with a time of 7.51 in the prelims. Sutherland ranks second in school history. Senior Reyna Johnson also clocked a lifetime-best 7.68, which puts her eighth among UC Irvine's top-10.
 
Senior Jazzmine Davis paced four Anteaters in the 60m hurdle prelims with a personal-record 8.53. Her time moved her up one spot to No. 4 in program history. Davis advanced to the final where she placed seventh overall.
 
Davis, Demirbas, Okoh and Mikah Longcob closed out the afternoon in the 4x400 relay where they combined for a time of 3:53.45.
 
Two 'Eaters set lifetime bests in the shot put. Junior Nyla Baker saw a slight improvement on her PR that ranks fourth all-time at UCI with a toss of 14.36 meters (47-1.5). Baker finished third overall. Junior Nadia Combs-Mahone was right behind her in fourth at 14.14 meters (46-4.75) to move up one spot to No. 5 in school history.
 
UC Irvine returns to action in two weeks when it heads to Spokane, Washington, for the Riverfront Invitational & Multis, Feb. 6-8.
