IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team makes a return trip to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center for the Nevada Invitational & Multis, Jan. 23-25. Twenty-one Anteaters are entered in 13 events that are scheduled for Friday and Saturday.

MPSF ACCLAIM
Senior Reyna Johnson was named the MPSF Women's Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, Jan. 15. Johnson was recognized for her performance at the season-opening Silver & Blue Invitational. She started the meet in the long jump where she was sixth with a leap of 5.89 meters (19-4). Her distance is the best in the MPSF this year and was three inches shy of her school record. Johnson also competed in the 60m hurdles where she finished fourth. In the prelims, the Sacramento native clocked a personal-record 8.54, which ranks third in the conference and third in program history. This was Johnson's second career MPSF weekly award.

RECORD BREAKERS
The Anteaters broke the 4x400 indoor school record in their first meet of the 2025 season. Jazzmine Davis, Lauren Aquino, Ihe Okoh and Amelia Trautman clocked in at 3:47.41 to win the event at the Silver & Blue Invitational. Their time topped UCI's previous standard of 3:48.68 that was set in 2020.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
UC Irvine's throws squad got out to a strong start at the Silver & Blue Invitational. Nyla Baker won the shot put with a toss of 13.89 meters (45-7). Pinkie Schnayer, the 2024 CIF high school state champion in the shot put, had an impressive collegiate debut, finishing third at 13.28m (43-7). Schnayer cracked UCI's all-time top-10, coming in at No. 6. Nadia Combs-Mahone also took fourth with a lifetime-best 13.10m (42-11.75), which ranks seventh in program history. In the weight throw, DeAna Davis improved on her No. 7 mark in school history with a personal-record 15.71m (51-6.5).

THE BIG THREE
Reyna Johnson, Jolie Robinson and Kailah McKenzie set the top three long jump marks in program history last year. Johnson leads the trio with a school-record 5.97 meters (19-7), which she established in her long jump victory at the 2024 MPSF Championships. Robinson isn't far behind with a personal-best 5.84m (19-2), while McKenzie is third at 5.80m (19-0.5). All three are entered in the long jump this weekend.

YEAR TWO
Kailah McKenzie and Halle Sutherland picked up right where they left off after successful freshmen campaigns in 2024. In the season opener, Sutherland set personal records in the 60m (7.55) and 200m (24.40) to rank second in program history in both events. Her 200m time is also the second-fastest in the MPSF this year. McKenzie added PRs in the high jump (1.70m) and 60m hurdles (8.66), which rank third and sixth, respectively, in school history.

MULTIS DEPTH
Jolie Robinson and Jazzmine Davis return in the pentathlon where they rank third and fourth among the program's all-time leaders. Robinson established a personal-record 3,660 points in a third-place finish at the 2024 MPSF Championships, while Davis notched a lifetime-best 3,470 points at the Riverfront Invitational. Both Robinson (2022) and Davis (2023) came to UCI as California Community College Athletic Association State Champions in the heptathlon. This year, the Anteaters add the 2024 3C2A state runner-up in Zharia Taylor (Cerritos College).

AT FIRST GLANCE
UC Irvine welcomes back 21 letterwinners, including seven MPSF scorers from last year's team that finished fourth at the conference meet. The Anteaters have also brought in a versatile group of 14 newcomers who could make an immediate impact across all event areas.

UP NEXT
UC Irvine is back in action, Feb. 6-8, when it heads to Spokane, Washington, for the Riverfront Invitational & Multis.
