IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women's volleyball team announced its 2024 schedule, which is highlighted by its annual UCI/adidas Invitational, nine conference home matches and hosting the Big West Championship.

UC Irvine will start the season at the Lobo Invitational August 30-31 playing North Dakota, Tulane and host New Mexico.

The annual UCI/adidas Invitational will take place September 5-8 at Crawford Hall, featuring Portland, Idaho State and Bradley. The Anteaters home debut is Sept. 6 versus Idaho State at 7:00 p.m. UCI will then take on Portland Sept. 7 at 1:30 p.m. and Bradley Sept. 8 at noon.

The Anteaters will spend the rest of the pre-season on the road, beginning at the Buff Invitational Sept. 13-15. Colorado, a new member of the Big 12, will host the highly competitive tournament that includes Wyoming that went 22-10 a year ago and advanced to the NIVC Great 8 as well as ACC member California. The Big West/WAC Challenge will be held at Cal Baptist on Sept. 20-21, rounding out the non-conference slate. Grand Canyon will join the Lancers to battle UCI and Cal State Fullerton for conference bragging rights.

"I think our pre-season has a good mix of teams from several different conferences," head coach Ashlie Hain said. "There will be competitive matches and we will be tested before starting Big West play."

UCI will open the Big West schedule on the road at Cal State Fullerton (Sept. 24) and Hawaii (Sept. 27) before hosting four in a row starting with CSUN on Oct. 4 and CSU Bakersfield Oct. 5. Cal Poly (Oct. 11) and UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 12) come to Irvine next.

UCI will host UC Davis on Oct. 24 in between trips to Long Beach State, UC San Diego, UC Riverside, CSU Bakersfield and CSUN.

The Anteaters will entertain UC San Diego and Long Beach State Nov. 8-9, respectively before heading up the central coast to UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. UCI will close out the regular season hosting Cal State Fullerton on Nov. 21 and Hawaii on Nov. 23.

The Bren Events Center will host the 2024 Big West Championship. First round play begins on Nov. 27 followed by the semifinal round Nov. 29 and championship on Nov. 30. The top six teams in the Big West standings advance to the championship.

"We are looking forward to hosting the Big West Championship this year, it should be very competitive," Hain added. "The Bren Events Center doesn't have a bad seat and is one of the best volleyball venues. There should be great attendance and be a special student-athlete experience."
