IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team had a successful outing on the second and final day of the Steve Scott Invitational Saturday at Anteater Stadium.

It was UCI's final tune-up before the Big West Championships.

Kailah McKenzie started the afternoon with a win in the high jump. She was the only athlete in the competition to clear the bar at 1.71 meters (5-7.25). McKenzie kept the momentum going at her next height with a clearance of 1.77m (5-9.75) on her first attempt. That was a personal record and ranks third in school history.

Deandra Tyler earned her sixth shot put victory of the season with a toss of 15.20 meters (49-10.5).
Nyla Baker (13.64m/44-9) was eighth, while
Cassious Fiaui notched a season-best 12.25m (40-2.25).

Baker added a fourth-place showing in the discus at 45.09m (147-11), and
Nadia Combs-Mahone registered a personal-best 44.67m (146-6) to come in fifth.

In the pole vault,
Alana Sugue established a personal-record 3.76m (12-4) to place second overall. Her clearance moved her up one spot to No. 3 on UCI's all-time charts.

The 'Eaters had an impressive day on the track that began with a first-place finish in the 4x100 relay.
Reyna Johnson,
Hallena Sutherland,
Samantha Bartz and
Aryel Coats were just .01 seconds off their season best as they topped the field at 45.74.

Johnson came back less than an hour later to clock a personal-record 13.91 in the 100m hurdles. Her time is tied for seventh in program history. McKenzie was ninth with a collegiate-best 14.20 and
Jazzmine Davis was right behind her in 10th at 14.21.
Sarah Ajayi (14.39) and
Journee Harvey (14.40) added PRs.

Kaia Schmidt was the only athlete to run a sub-five minute mile in Saturday's open section. She won the event at 4:58.26.
Makena Castillo was second in a personal-record 5:00.12.

Emilie Castagna, a standout on the UC Irvine women's soccer team, made her debut on the track, claiming runner-up honors in the 800m Open with a time of 2:15.55.
Montgomery Allison was also third in 2:17.80.

Coats was the Anteaters' top performer in the 100m (12.27) and 200m (24.88).
Samantha Bartz added a personal-record 25.05 in the 200m.

Mia Marquez (57.37) and
Bailey Moran (58.51) each had a top-10 showing in the 400m.

Marquez,
Malia Gay, Castagna and Moran closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:49.92).

The Big West Track & Field Championships are up next, starting with the multi-events, May 3-4, in San Luis Obispo, California.
