IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team closed out the Steve Scott Invitational with four event wins Saturday at Anteater Stadium.

It was UCI's final tune-up before the Big West Championships.

Justin Willingham led the way as a double champion in the shot put and discus. In the shot put, he took the lead in the opening round with a toss of 17.80 meters (58-4.75). That stood as the best of the competition until his sixth and final attempt where he hit 18.54m (60-10).

In the last event of the day, Willingham put together an impressive discus series with four throws surpassing 53 meters. His winning mark measured at 54.83m (179-10).

Jacob Hawkins made it a one-two finish for the 'Eaters in the shot put as he was the runner-up with a toss of 17.58m (57-8.25). Hawkins also took third in the discus at 53.50m (175-6).

Kenechukwu Okonkwo notched a personal-record 15.33 meters (50-3.5) to place fourth in the triple jump. He is the fourth Anteater in program history to top 50 feet and now ranks third among UCI's all-time leaders.

On the track,
Drew Pickett won the 110m hurdles in a lifetime-best 13.91 seconds. He climbed three spots into a tie for third in school history.

Ashton Fegel,
Josh Farmer,
Eric Parker and
Ty Sheridan combined for a first-place finish in the 4x400 relay (3:15.69).

Joshua Schuld was third out of 37 in the 800m Open, clocking in at 1:58.06.
Jimmy Markowicz added a top-10 showing as he was sixth in 1:59.70.

Sheridan was UC Irvine's top performer in the 400m (49.23), placing seventh in a field of 34. Fegel also registered a season-best 55.40 in the 400m hurdles.

Alex Skalmowski (10.76),
Bryce Bushnell (10.84) and
Brandon Burns (10.92) were all among the top-20 in the 100m.

In the 4x100, Skalmowski, Bushnell, Burns and
Max Daniels came in just .01 seconds off their season best to take third (41.09).
