SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf saw a 16-stroke improvement in the second round of the 77th Western Intercollegiate Tuesday at Pasatiempo Golf Club.

The Anteaters combined for a 6-count-5 score of 371. They remained in 14th place at 758 (387-371), but are just two strokes behind Hawai'i heading into tomorrow's final round.

No. 38 Stanford took a slight lead with a total of 709 (354-355). No. 9 Arizona (711), No. 8 Washington (712) and No. 34 San Diego State (713) are all within four strokes of the Cardinal. The Wildcats' Filip Jakubcik sits atop the individual leaderboard at 4-under 136.

Rei Harashima tied his collegiate best with a 65 (-5). He had five birdies on the front nine and closed out the second round with an eagle on the par-5, 491-yard 18th. Harashima climbed 54 spots into a tie for 20th with a 36-hole score of 142 (77-65).

Darien Zhao is tied for 66th with a two-round total of 150 (75-75), while
Jin Nakao is tied for 73rd at 152 (76-76).

Jason Tang (T81st),
Yaoting Zou (T92nd) and
Joshua Lane (94th) round out UCI's lineup. Zhao and Zou also eagled the 18th hole.
