Anteaters Drop To No. 53 UC Santa Barbara

IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine could not find their groove in the 7-0 loss to No. 53 ranked UC Santa Barbara.

The Anteaters celebrated graduate student Jenna Schlatter and seniors Emily Fowler and Mia Totah for their contributions to the program.

UCSB got to work with doubles victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots for the 1-0 advantage. The Anteaters put up a fight on the first three courts in individual action, but the Gauchos won three straight to clinch the match.

No. 4 and No. 5 singles wrapped up not too long after with Emily Fowler at the fifth position bringing the second set within two points, 6-4. Larissa Teramura at the No. 6 spot collected the lone UCI set win against No. 53 UC Santa Barbara, 6-4, before falling in the next two.

"It was exciting competing today while being able to celebrate our seniors as well! I'm extremely grateful to have spent five years at such a wonderful school and tennis program.
