SANTA BARBARA, CALIF. – UC Irvine dropped a hard-fought battle to No. 49 UC Santa Barbara, 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Arnhold Tennis Center.
The Anteaters held the early advantage in doubles as the duo of
Matthew Sah and
Brandon Park earned the 6-1 victory over Luka Mrsic/Conrad Brown at No. 3.
UCSB responded with a win on court two before play at No. 1 doubles went into extra points with
Rahul Dhokia and
Noah Zamora giving UC Irvine the 1-0 lead with their 7-6 (9-7) triumph over the 38th-nationally ranked pairing of Pablo Masjuan and Gianluca Brunkow.
Zamora continued his winning ways at No. 3, putting the 'Eaters in front 2-1, defeating Mrsic, 6-3, 6-2.
At the fifth position,
Andy Nguyen handed UCI their third point of the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kai Brady.
No. 49 UC Santa Barbara used victories on courts two, four and lastly six to end the match.
