LA JOLLA, Calif. --- UC Irvine baseball returned the favor Saturday afternoon in Triton Ballpark with a resounding 16-3 victory over UC San Diego to even up the series.

  • UCI's barrage finished in the fifth with three more runs, all with two outs, on a two-run single by Jo Oyama and Caden Kendle RBI single to lead 15-0
  • Trevor Hansen was spectacular in his start no-hitting UC San Diego through 4.2 innings. The Tritons tagged him for three runs before he finished his day and took home his fourth win

    • Call reached four times with three extra-base hits, two runs, and two RBIs
    • Oyama drove in three while scoring twice himself
    • Martinez led all players with four RBIs and also scoring three times
    • Thomas McCaffrey returned to the lineup with just one hit but three RBIs
    • Hometown kid James Castagnola enjoyed a two-hit day and scored three times
    • Woody Hadeen continued his streak of games registering a hit and a run scored now at 14 games, and for good measure walked four times
    • Myles Smith joined Hadeen and Caden Kendle as Anteaters that reached five times on the day

Postgame Thoughts
Trevor Hansen - "I felt good, commanded the fastball down, just leaving some pitches up and that's where I got in trouble. All three pitches felt good and just keeping them off balance."

Chase Call - "It was important that Trevor got off to a good start, couple of zeroes out of the first couple innings. We just knew that we had to come out swinging today. Rocky start yesterday, but we've got a lot of work to do tomorrow and we're looking forward to it."

"Every game in this league is like a championship game, a playoff-type game. UC San Diego is a really good team, and we have to start from pitch one, swing it in the first inning, and kind of play from ahead because they've good bullpen and we've just got to take it one pitch at a time."
