CORVALLIS, Ore. - UC Irvine women's basketball defeated Oregon State, 60-48, Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum.

It was the Anteaters' second victory, and first since December 3, 1999, in their all-time series with the Beavers.

UCI (7-3) led by as many as 26 in the fourth quarter before OSU rallied in the final two minutes to close the gap to 12. Eleven different Anteaters made their way into the scoring column, including
Lauryn Madsen and
Ines Gnahore, who made their NCAA Division I collegiate debuts.
The 'Eaters held Oregon State to 3-of-17 shooting from beyond the arc. The home team did not connect from downtown until there was 1:22 left in the game.

Hunter Hernandez tied for the game high with 11 points each. Lee added four assists and two steals, while Hernandez pulled down four rebounds.

UC Irvine shot 35% (20-57) from the field and 27% (7-26) from deep.

Oregon State (3-7) did not have anyone reach double figures in scoring as it had four players tie for the team lead with eight points apiece.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Tom got the scoring started with a corner three at the 8:35 mark. UC Irvine stayed out front until Oregon State tied it up at 5-all. Hernandez then knocked down a triple to start an 8-4 run that gave the Anteaters a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

After a Williams jumper to open the second period, the Beavers went on a 10-2 spurt to take their first lead of the game at 19-17 with 5:16 remaining. UCI held OSU to just two points the rest of the half. The 'Eaters used a 6-0 scoring run to pull ahead, 23-19. Oregon State then made a pair of free throws before 3-pointers from Dean, Lee and Gnahore put UC Irvine on top, 32-21, at the break.

The Beavers got on the board first in the third frame, but the Anteaters responded with a 9-4 rally, capped by another three from Dean, to go up, 41-25, with 4:32 to go.
Daniela Falcón Hernández added three points over the final 1:41 to give the 'Eaters a 46-29 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

UCI scored the first seven points of the final period for a 53-29 cushion at the 5:44 mark. OSU got on the board, but the 'Eaters remained in control, going up by as many as 26 en route to the 60-48 victory.
