Zamora Heads to Waco for NCAA Singles Championship

November 17, 2024

IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Noah Zamora is set to represent UC Irvine in the 2024-25 NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Singles Championship, Nov. 19-24, at Baylor's Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

This is the first time the NCAA individual championships will be held in the fall. Student-athletes in both the singles and doubles draws qualified through one of four events - ITA All-American Championships, ITA Regional Championships, ITA Conference Masters Championship and the ITA Sectional Championships.

Zamora, who is ranked 121st in the nation, punched his NCAA ticket by advancing to the ITA Southwest Regional final. He dropped only one set in five-straight wins against opponents from UCLA, Arizona, UC Santa Barbara, LMU and Hawai'i.

Zamora will go up against No. 13 Sebastian Dominko of Notre Dame in Tuesday's Round of 64. Zamora is 7-3 this season and 2-2 against ranked opponents. His highest ranked win was against No. 64 Miguel Perez Pena of Georgia at the ITA All-American Championships.

Dominko qualified for NCAAs by winning the ITA Conference Masters Championship. He owns an 8-3 record this fall. Dominko is a two-time All-American and two-time All-ACC selection in singles.

Zamora is the Anteaters' first NCAA individual qualifier since 2011. He is the only Big West representative on the men's side. The San Diego native has been part of two NCAA Tournament teams at UCI after leading the 'Eaters to the 2022 and 2024 Big West Championship. He is a three-time All-Big West selection in singles and doubles, and was named the 2022 Big West co-Freshman of the Year.
