Luka Krstic Collects Third Player Of The Week Honor Of 2024

IRVINE, Calif. – Attacker Luka Krstic collects Big West Player of the Week honors on Wednesday afternoon the conference announced.
This is the fourth career weekly honor for the junior, third of the season, and fifth of the year for the Anteater program. His three weekly honors and four career nods are a league high since the Big West responsored water polo in the 2023 season.
Krstic helped UC Irvine to a 2-0 weekend with victories over then No. 8/6 Long Beach State and Westcliff.
The attacker pushed UCI to the top of the Big West standings (2-0) behind a monster performance in the 13-12 victory over Long Beach State. Krstic reset his career high seven goals in the win, carrying half of the Anteaters goal scoring, while adding a field block. It was UCI's first victory over the Beach since the 2017 postseason clash in the Golden Coast Conference semifinals, first in the regular season since 2015, and first in Long Beach since 2010 to snap a 10-game losing streak to the Black and Blue rival. Krstic played limited minutes in the 'Eaters 24-12 victory over Westcliff.
The junior tops the squad with 42 goals, good for third in the league, 61 points (5th in Big West), and nine field blocks (1st in BW).
Krstic and the Anteaters host No. 16 UC Santa Barbara in a rematch of the 2023 Big West Championship finale on Saturday Oct. 26 before No. 7 Pepperdine heads to Irvine on Sunday Oct. 27.
