RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's cross country team finished seventh out of 22 teams in the 8K Invite Saturday at the UC Riverside Invitational.

For the second time in as many meets, junior
Lukas Amare led the Anteaters as he completed the 8K at the UCR Ag/Ops Course in 24:09.5 for a top-20 showing. Amare was 16th overall, 12th among collegiate athletes and was the top Big West finisher.

Cameron Smith followed with a personal-record 24:16.2. Smith, who saw a 33-second improvement, came in 24th. Junior
Zeid Hussain wasn't far behind in 38th with a time of 24:29.6

Juniors
Joshua Schuld (24:41.4) and
Jacob Bustamante (24:57.7) were next across the line for the 'Eaters, while classmates
Juan Sanchez (25:09.7) and
Henry McClish (25:24.3) rounded out UCI's top-seven.

Freshman
Jimmy Markowicz registered a time of 25:27.1 in his first career 8K race.

AJ Sager (26:06.9) and freshman
Caleb McDaniel (26:08.0) were also in action for UC Irvine.
