IRVINE, Calif.โBen Egbo rounds out the UC Irvine men's basketball 2023 recruiting class.

Egbo hails from Gilbert, Ariz., playing for a winning program at Perry High School under Coach Sam Duane Jr.

Egbo had a successful senior campaign with the Pumas as he was named the conference Defensive Player of the Year, selected to the First Team All-CUSD, and won the 6A Open State Championship. An academic weapon, the incoming freshman was awarded Academic Excellence from 2020-23.

"Ben strikes me as a winning player, proving that with his time on a great high school team playing with other great talents and contributing to winning," remarked head coach Russell Turner. "He has already impressed me in his start here and will have a great impact during his time at UC Irvine on the court and in the community."

Ben Egbo joins Carter Welling, Dylan Thoerner, Derin Saran, and Jurian Dixon in the incoming recruiting class, entering the Anteaterย programย that concluded the 2022-23 campaign with a 23-12 overall record, including a 15-5 conference record that helped secure a Big West regular season championship.
