Anteaters Fall To UC Santa Barbara

Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – UC Irvine was not able to close out the tough battles with UC Santa Barbara, dropping 5-2.

Emily Fowler and Carolyna Fowler found themselves at the No. 1 doubles spot, taking on the nationally ranked duo of Amelia Honer and Kira Reuter. At No. 3, Asha Gidwani and Amanda Perez improved to 12-2 overall and 11-2 at the third position in doubles play. The Gauchos clinched the doubles point in the after taking the tiebreaker set against Alyssia Fossorier and Jenna Schlatter.

C. Fowler claimed the Anteaters first singles point, defeating her opponent in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Perez had UCI's other tally from individual competition, keeping true to herself in the tough match. Ultimately, the freshman came away with the win in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) for her first win in four matches.
