Robinson Leads UCI on First Day of UCSB Invitational Multis

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Sophomore Jolie Robinson led the UC Irvine women's track & field team on the first day of the heptathlon at the UCSB Invitational.
 
Robinson established personal records in all four of Wednesday's events and sits in second with 2,951 points. She is 157 points behind defending Big West champion Jessica Swalve of host UC Santa Barbara.
 
Robinson matched her PR and tied for first in the high jump, clearing 5-03. She also closed out the afternoon with an event win in the 200m, clocking in at 25.60 seconds. Robinson added lifetime bests in the 100m hurdles (15.39) and shot put (35-10.5).
 
Junior Shaelyn Amos is fourth in the standings (2,642). Amos compiled 1,494 points in the track events, starting with a lifetime-best 15.77 in the 100m hurdles. She also had the fourth best time of the day in the 200m at 26.54. In the field events, Amos notched a personal-best 32-01.5 in the shot put.
 
Junios Chaselyn Amos (2,414) and Laura Sangiacomo (2,220) are eighth and 10th, respectively. Amos notched personal-records of 36-09.75 in the shot put and 4-07.75 in the high jump.
 
The quartet of Anteaters will conclude the heptathlon tomorrow starting at 1 p.m., while the individual events of the UCSB Invitational which were originally slated for Friday have been moved to Saturday, March 10, due to weather.
