LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's track & field team wrapped up action at the Beach Opener Saturday at Long Beach State.

The Anteaters won the first and last events of the day on the track.
Joshua Schuld got things started with a first-place finish in his first career steeplechase. Schuld clocked in at 9:14.94, while
AJ Sager was also third at 9:54.56.

Malcolm Overbaugh,
Eric Parker,
Jake Preston and
Ty Sheridan won the 4x400 relay to close out the meet. The quartet combined for a time of 3:15.38.

In the 3000m, both
Henry McClish (8:53.47) and
Juan Sanchez (8:55.95) established personal records.

Zeid Hussain led a trio of Anteaters in the 1500m, placing 23rd out of 54 with a time of 4:01.51.

Brandon Burns made his collegiate debut in the 100m and was UCI's top finisher as he came in ninth at 10.85 seconds.

Maxwell Jefferson (15.12) and
Ty Sheridan (50.37) added top-10 showings in the 110H and 400m, respectively.

In the field events,
Justin Willingham took third in the shot put with a lifetime-best 54-09.5. Willingham's mark puts him at No. 10 in program history.
Quincy Stokes was also sixth at 50-07.5.

Elijah Yoshinaga made his collegiate debut in the triple jump (43-10.5) and long jump (22-04.5) where he finished fifth and 12th.

UC Irvine is back in action next week at the UCSB Invitational, March 8-10.
