Anteaters Wrap up Action in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The UC Irvine women's indoor track & field team wrapped up the New Mexico Collegiate Classic Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
 
For the second week in a row, Emma McCarthy set a school record in the 800m. She clocked an altitude-adjusted time of 2:12.10, topping her previous best by .31 seconds. McCarthy placed sixth in the race, while Alexis Alexander came in 10th (2:16.38). Anna Vogtmann also made her season debut, crossing the finish line in 2:20.03 (17th), and Reina Kabbara notched a PR 2:20.40 (19th).
 
The quartet of Mia Marquez, McCarthy, Lauren Aquino and Alexander ran the second-fastest 4x400 in indoor program history at 3:49.43.
 
Malia Gay entered UCI's all-time top-10 in the mile as she registered a lifetime-best 5:02.46 to rank seventh in school history. Montgomery Allison added a PR 5:11.36.
 
Reyna Johnson finished seventh in the 60m hurdle qualifying round with a season-best 8.79. Amari Fraser was also 11th overall (8.89).
 
Samantha Bartz led four 'Eaters in the 60m qualifying round, placing 25th (7.71) in a field of 77 sprinters.
 
In the shot put, Deandra Tyler improved her No. 3 mark in program history with a personal-record 48-10.75. Tyler placed among the top-20.
 
UC Irvine will be back in action, Feb. 17-18, at the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships in Spokane, Washington.
