Hilir Henno was named to the Big West Preseason Coaches Team for the second consecutive year.
Henno was named a first team All-American in 2023 after leading the country in ace average with a .880 mark. The two-time first team All-Big West performer set the UCI season record for aces with 87, the second most in NCAA history and UCI match record with nine versus Penn State. The outside hitter owned a 3.46 kills average which was fifth in the Big West and was third in points (4.56). He was efficient on offense, hitting .296 good for seventh in the Big West. He was named AVCA National Player of the Week and Big West Offensive Player of the Week on Jan.10, 2023.
The Anteaters, who were picked third in the preseason poll with one first place vote, begin the 2024 season on Jan. 9 against George Mason at 3:00 p.m. in Crawford Hall. UCI ended 2023 ranked No. 5 nationally, advancing to the Big West Championship match.
