UC Irvine Falls to No. 2 Southern California, 10-4

LA JOLLA, Calif. –
 No. 12 UC Irvine men's water polo (1-1) dropped their second contest of the day, 10-4, to No. 2 Southern California (2-0).
 
UC Irvine struck first, scoring the first goal only 45 seconds into the game. No. 2 Southern California committed a penalty, allowing the Anteaters to get their first opportunity into the net. The Trojans were able to score back-to-back goals to lead the game 2-1.
 
A strong defensive presence from UCI only allowed one No. 2 Southern California goal into the net in the second quarter. The 'Eaters were able to close in on the lead, scoring just over the four minute mark, trailing 3-2 going into the half.
 
Three goals found their way to the back of the net for the Trojans to take the 6-2 advantage over UCI in the third period. The Blue and Gold were able to score two goals in the last 33 seconds of the quarter.
 
The Anteaters were unable to progress the on the offensive end in the final period, giving up four unanswered goals, falling to No. 2 Southern California 10-4.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jacob Pyle compiled 16 saves in the contest. Sophomore Ethan Shipman led the offensive charge netting three goals, followed by one goal from senior Zlatan Nikocevic
