IRVINE, Calif. --- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association honored the top academic tennis players in the country Monday which included a host of Anteaters among their academic awards.
UC Irvine was 1 of 250 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction, and its a fifth straight year they've claimed the honor.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
- have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
- all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
- all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
- have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
- be listed on the institutional eligibility form
Seven Anteaters earned Scholar Athlete distinction -
Jessica Tsukiji,
Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico,
Dasee Carter,
Megan Mansonhing,
Shreya Pavani,
Mia Totah, and Alyssa Fossorier - marking the fifth time the program has honored at least five members. The trio of Carter, Pavani, and Tsukiji each claimed honors for the fourth time in their careers.
