IRVINE, Calif. – UC Irvine student-athletes were successful in the classroom once again following the 2022 Spring Quarter.
Following the Spring academic quarter, 112 student-athletes were honored on the Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, individuals need 12 or more undergraduate graded units in a quarter with a GPA of 3.500 or better.
"Hugely impressive to earn this academic hat trick!" boasted women's tennis head coach Elizabeth Ferris. "No matter how tough it gets, these ladies know how to bring it! I am proud beyond words and what a great way to end the school year, especially for our seniors that have contributed tremendously."
Women's tennis finished with the top GPA for a women's team for the third-straight quarter with a GPA over 3.60, while men's water polo posted the highest GPA for a men's team. Overall, 13 UCI teams earned over a 3.0 GPA in the quarter, and 14 had a year-long average of 3.0 or higher.
"Our men's water polo student-athletes are highly-engaged in their academic programming at UC Irvine. They take risks, compete, and collaborate with their fellow students and UC Irvine faculty to maximize their potential," praised head coach Dan Klatt. "We are extremely proud of their maturity, leadership, and professionalism. Our athletic department has excellent students. Being the highest academic achievers amongst our men's sport programs is not an achievement we take lightly. I know that our young men will continue to honor the high academic standards and expectations of our program, our department, and our University. This achievement would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our academic support staff, Mari Yacoubian and Alexis McDonald. We are grateful for their selfless commitment to our student-athletes, and we can only hope that we demonstrate the grace they deserve."
