FULLERTON, Calif. --- UC Irvine women's tennis finished its regular season at Cal State Fullerton Sunday afternoon dropping the contest, 6-1.
The 'Eaters finish the regular season with an 8-15 record and 1-8 in Big West play for a ninth place finish in the conference.
Cal State Fullerton (15-7, 5-4) sweep through doubles play with wins at Nos. 1 and 3. UCI's No. 2 duo of
Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico and
Jenna Schlatter held at 5-4 lead in their unfinished set.
Singles saw all six courts finish in straight sets with the 75th-ranked Titans winning the first five points, but
Dasee Carter claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles to avoid the shutout and finish the match, 6-1, in favor of Cal State Fullerton.

I felt the energy and fight coming off of every court and it helped me stay focused and mentally tough during my singles match, which is what allowed me to pull out the win. I'm looking forward to competing in the conference tournament down in San Diego this week - Zot Zot!!"
Alyssia Fossorier - "Although the result wasn't what we would've hoped for I think this weekend was a great stepping stone on what need to improve on for the upcoming tournament. I'm looking forward to competing hard with my team and using what we gained from this weekend to fuel our games for the upcoming matches. I'm proud to step on the court with this team. Go 'Eaters!!!"
The next step is the Big West Championship with the tournament held at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. starting Wednesday, May 29. UCI will play the opening match against UC Riverside on that Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals for a Thursday, 9:00 a.m. matchup.
