IRVINE, Calif. --- The Anteaters played their penultimate home match of the season falling, 7-0, to visiting 70th-ranked Cal Poly Friday afternoon at Anteater Tennis Stadium.
Doubles were all Cal Poly (14-5, 7-0) taking the first two sets by a score of 6-0 to secure the point. The final set went unfinished with the duo of
Emily Fowler and
Ysabel Gonzalez-Rico leading 4-2 at the time.
Singles went Cal Poly's way as well winning five points in straight sets. UC Irvine (8-12, 1-5) took the final point into a third set with Gonzalez-Rico battling with Kim Bhunu at No. 1 singles, but dropping it in a third-set tiebreak for the 7-0 Mustang win.
The 'Eaters finish up the weekend with their final home match starting at 12:00 p.m. against the 25th-ranked UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.
