SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team wrapped up the first day of the heptathlon at the UCSB Invitational Wednesday at Pauley Track.
Through four events, Shaelyn Amos leads the Anteaters in ninth with 2,284 points, while Kayla Rodriguez isn't far behind in 10th (2,275). Chaselyn Amos also sits in 12th (2,186).
S. Amos tied for second in the high jump with a collegiate personal-record 4-11.75. She also closed out the day with a top-three finish in the 200m (26.61). Amos added marks of 18.67 and 29-11.25 in her first 100H and outdoor shot put competition, respectively.
Rodriguez was eighth in the 100H (15.97), 12th in the high jump (4-01), seventh in the shot put (31-00) and seventh in the 200m (27.10).
C. Amos cleared a season-best 4-05.75 in the high jump, while she was UCI's top performer in the shot put (33-02.25). She also finished with times of 18.67 in the 100H and 27.05 in the 200m.
The trio will close out their first career heptathlon tomorrow, starting with the long jump at 1 p.m.
