IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's track & field team will compete in the throws at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational Saturday in San Diego.

The one-day meet will be held at PLNU Track & Field on the campus of Point Loma Nazarene. The 'Eaters have four individuals entered in three throwing events - Kassidy Sani (Javelin, Discus), Laura Lindquist (Javelin), Cassious Fiaui (Shot Put) and Deandra Tyler (Shot Put, Discus). Action gets underway with the javelin at 9 a.m.

In two outdoor meets this season, the 'Eaters have already established three marks that rank among UCI's all-time top-10. Deandra Tyler is responsible for two of those with her lifetime-bests of 46-11.25 in the shot put and 157-05 in the hammer, sitting at No. 5 and No. 10, respectively. Kassidy Sani also made her way up to sixth in the javelin (1999 specifications) with a toss of 137-10 at the Beach Opener.

Cassious Fiaui notched personal records in the shot put (46-11.25) and hammer (125-00) last weekend at the UCSB Invitational, while Laura Lindquist added a PR 122-07 in the javelin.

UP NEXT: UC Irvine will be back in action next week at the Texas Relays (March 24-26), as well as UCLA's Bob Larsen Invitational (March 25) and Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational (March 26).
