SAN DIEGO - The UC Irvine women's track & field team sent its throws squad to the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational Saturday in San Diego.
Kassidy Sani and Laura Lindquist both had a top-five showing with personal records in the javelin. Sani led the way in third with a toss of 140-09. She moved up to No. 5 in school history. Lindquist wasn't far behind in fourth as she also cracked UCI's all-time top-10 at 134-06.
Deandra Tyler earned her second-straight individual victory in the shot put, winning the event by over a foot at 45-01.75. Cassious Fiaui added a top-10 showing, coming in eighth (39-01.25).
In the discus, Sani was the runner-up (147-05), and Tyler was 10th (126-00).
The 'Eaters are back in action next week, traveling to the Texas Relays, March 24-26, and UCLA's Bob Larsen Invitational (March 25) and Rafer Johnson/Jacki Joyner-Kersee Invitational (March 26).
