SAN MARCOS, Texas - Cathy Salazar-Gasca kicked off a busy week for the UC Irvine women's track & field team with a runner-up finish in the 1500m Thursday evening at the Texas State Bobcat Invitational.
Salazar-Gasca was second in a field of 30 collegiate competitors. In her 1500m season debut, the sophomore clocked in at 4:39.97, coming in just .72 seconds behind Western Michigan's Rebecca McNamee. It was the Anteaters' second-fastest time of the 2022 campaign.
UCI is back in action tomorrow with a split squad at the Texas Relays and at UCLA's Bob Larsen Distance Invitational.
