UC Irvine Wrapped Up Long Beach Fall Invitational

LONG BEACH, Calf. – UC Irvine wrapped up action on the final day of the Long Beach State Fall Invitational, Sunday afternoon.

In the singles black flight consolation final, Jenna Schlatter defeated Anali Kocevar from GCU 6-1, 6-1.

"Today was a great last day of the tournament," said Schlatter. "Everyone came out with a fighting spirit which I'm very proud of. I'm grateful to be back and healthy on court again and being able to win my singles today brought me a lot of joy! We had a great weekend of competition and I'm looking forward to regionals coming up soon!"

Nour Khayat, who advanced to the singles gold flight consolation championship match, dropped 7-5, 6-2 to LBSU's Sheena Masuda.

In an extra consolation match, Alyssia Fossorier played Rhona Cook and won a 6-4, 6-0 decision. Larissa Teramura also played CSUN's Talia Harper, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.

"I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to compete as an Anteater this weekend with my teammates, and I am very proud of everyone's hard work and camaraderie throughout the tournament," stated Teramura. "I can't wait to see what the rest of the year holds for the team, and I think we can only get better from here!"

In doubles black flight consolation final, Schlatter and Fossorier fell to GCU's Puehse/Strombacha by a score of 7-5.

Up next, UCI competes in the ITA Southwest Regionals Oct. 20-23.
