SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The UC Irvine women's tennis team closed out its run at the ITA Southwest Regional Championship with three singles and one doubles victory Saturday at Barnes Tennis Center.
 
Alyssia Fossorier earned her second singles wins of the tournament. Fossorier made an impressive comeback as she rebounded from a first-set loss to defeat San Diego State's Cecile Morin, 5-7, 6-4, 10-5. 
 
Nour Khayat also dispatched Anna Kern of Hawai'i, 6-2, 6-3, while Cydney Yamamoto upended Rachel Wagner of UC San Diego, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
 
In doubles action, Larissa Teramura and Yamamoto notched their first victory of the weekend, taking down Dania Deaifi/Valentina Del Marco of Grand Canyon, 8-4.
 
Carolyna Fowler and Emily Fowler also put up a fight against a Pac-12 opponent, but ultimately dropped an 8-6 decision to Arizona's Midori Castillo/Parker Fry.
 
UC Irvine will be back in action in three weeks when it closes out the fall tournament season at the CSUN Hidden Duals, Nov. 11-13.

Larissa Teramura: ITA Regionals was a great experience for me, and allowed me to grow as a tennis player while representing UCI. I was challenged in matches in ways that I hadn't dealt with before, but I also learned that I was able to handle the pressure if I stayed focused and played my game. I am very proud of how everyone played this tournament and I know we can only improve from here.
 
Haily Huynh: I think this tournament really tested how well our team can handle tough opponents from all different conferences. I am proud of how well our team fought until the end. I am happy with how I was able to close out important points and close out my second match efficiently.
 
Nour Khayat: We had some great matches this weekend, battling it out against some of the toughest schools in the country. We pushed ourselves to get out of our comfort zones to raise our level of play. I was also proud of how we fought as a team and continued to support each other throughout the weekend.
