UCI Ties for Second at Visit Stockton Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. - UC Irvine men's golf finished the Visit Stockton Invitational in a tie for second Saturday at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.
The Anteaters' 5-count-4 lineup combined for a 54-hole score of 16-under 836 (278-276-282). They tied Pac-12 member Washington State, while coming in six strokes behind Grand Canyon which took first in the 16-team field.
UCI had three individuals in the top-20, led by redshirt freshman Jin Nakao who tied for eighth. Nakao carded a 67, which was his second sub-70 score of the tournament, to climb 12 spots in the standings. He finished with a three-round total of 7-under 206 (65-74-67).
Freshman Rei Harashima shot an even-par 71 to remain at 5-under. He tied for 11th with a 208 (69-68-71).
Junior Darien Zhao also closed out the three-day tournament at 210 (70-68-72) to tie for 18th.
Freshman Andy Zou (215) and junior Kolbe Irei (219) were 43rd and 60th, respectively.
George Washington University's Jakub Hrinda ran away with the individual title, firing a 14-under 199 (70-62-67).
The 'Eaters will be back in action next weekend as they close out the fall season at the Ka'anapali Classic in Maui, Oct. 28-30.
